Bubba's First Cold

The one thing that wasn't covered in all of our baby classes was what to do when your infant has a cold. The textbook answer to help your baby to breathe easier is to use saline and a bulb syringe to clear their nose. Turns out if you actually look online on how to use the syringe to suck the boogers out of your babies nose, it doesn't tell you that you have to close one nostril. You also never here that sometimes babies (just like adults) get congested but there are no boogers in the nose. It seems silly, but I had no idea.

Of course the last couple nights I was freaking out that Bubba was going to stop breathing in the middle of the night, so I didn't sleep much on Saturday. I now realize that trying to stick the syringe up his nose and sucking out the non-existent boogers probably wasn't helping his situation. Oops.

The good thing, is that little man is starting to get a little better and is actually taking his naps during the day. Sick babies are not so fun, that is for sure.

Thank heaven he is feeling better. Mama needs some sleep.
